Vergie Mae Shaw

Vergie Mae Shaw, passed from this life on Monday, October 5, 2015 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born August 29, 1931 in Abbott, Arkansas to Monroe and Rosie Mae (Carpenter) Montgomery. Vergie was 84 years, 1 month and 6 days old.

Vergie cherished life and lived each day to its fullest. She loved spending time with her family and watching all her little friends', as she called them, that visited the yard. She was sweet as sugar and salty as a payday, she definitely had a major attitude when she needed it. She enjoyed getting to be around the newest additions to the family, Donovan, Eli, Jax and Mason.

Vergie leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Donna Engle and husband Lee of Waldron, Arkansas, three granddaughters: Shannon Slater and husband Mickey of Waldron, Arkansas, Dianna Nordin of Clearwater, Florida and Melissa Sandoval and husband Gabriel of Waldron, Arkansas. Great- grandchildren Brittany Bartlett, Alex Slater, Lyric Nordin, Lakelynn Nordin, Shyloh Nordin, George Nordin Jr., Zachary Wilkins, Jade Ingle, Adrianna Ingle, Gabriella Sandoval, Donovan Sandoval. Vergie had three great grandchildren, Mason Bartlett, Eli Gleason, and Jax Scott of Waldron Arkansas. Vergie is also survived by two sisters, Jeanie Bailey and husband Linden and Hazel Cheeseman, as well as sister-in-law Vera Montgomery, best family friends, John Ingle, and Pat McFarland and alot of nieces, nephews and friends. 'Granny Vergie' as everyone called her will be forever missed by her family, and all who knew her, 'till we see you again, you will remain in our hearts.

Vergie was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Floyd Shaw, and infant daughter Linda Carol Shaw, her parents Monroe and Rosie Montgomery, two brothers, Loyd Montgomery and Alton Montgomery and one grandson Tylon Wilklns.

Vergie's graveside life celebration service will be Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at Pearson Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas with interment to follow. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Vergie's visitation will be Monday, October 12, 2015 from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Vergie's family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
