Leon Vaughn aka "Tanker" or "Judge" of Dutch Creek, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 18, 2014 in his home in Dutch Creek, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Tanker was born April 29, 1931 in Freedom Creek to James Walter "Sonny" Vaughn and Myrtle Pearlee (Owens) Vaughn. He was 83 years, 6 months and 20 days old, and of Premitivie Baptist faith.
Tanker spent his life in the woods. From peeling poles to skidding logs with a mule. He loved the woods and outdoors, along with a good-hunting dog, and messing with bees. He loved everything from a good hunt, to working with his mule plowing a garden, to playing music with the guitar and fiddle. It could even be said that from time to time, Tanker enjoyed a good old-fashioned western. Even though Tanker enjoyed various activities, his most precious time was those moments he spent with family. He was always up for a big ol' family gathering with everyone he loved. He touched many lives throughout the years with his heart of gold and his willingness to give. For this reason and many more, Tanker was known across the counties as a one of a kind, genuine guy with a lot of friends.
Tanker leaves behind to cherish his memory, his adoring wife of 60 years, Fayreen of the home, two daughters, Maxine Wiscour and Melissa Lunsford and husband Steve, three sons: Tony Vaughn and wife Diane, Les Vaughn and wife Glenda, and Jeffery Vaughn all of Dutch Creek, Arkansas. Poppa Leon will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Kerry Stark, Chris Vaughn, Angie Vaughn, Kristin Haggard, Racheal McKibbin and Brandon Lunsford as well as his six great grandchildren: Abbigail, Katelynn, Damon, Dakota, Madison, and Alexis. Tanker's memory will be treasured by sisters: Laverne Templeman (twin sister) of Tahlequah, Oklahoma and Shirley James and husband Ronnie of Dutch Creek, Arkansas. Tanker will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and loved ones.
Tanker is preceded in death by his parents: Sonny & Myrtle Vaughn, one infant brother, one infant sister, one grandson, Anthony and one son in law, James Wiscour.
