John Harold Evans of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Thursday, May 21, 2015 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. John was born May 8, 1932 in Montgomery, Texas to John E. Evans and Myrtle Pauline (Dustman) Evans. John was 83 years and 13 days old. John was a long time member of Waldron First Baptist Church in Waldron, Arkansas where he served as a Deacon. John's unwavering faith and belief proved true by his commitment to lead by example.
John married the love of his life, Doris when they were mere youngsters. Together they raised four amazing children. John was a well rounded man. He was loyal as an employee and stayed with his company's for extended times. His experiences ranged from Douglas Aircraft to owning and operating an Otasco to retirement from Tyson Foods maintenance department. John enjoyed fishing, woodworking and gardening. His most treasured moments was that of family time. He loved getting to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Memories made with his family were priceless.
John leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 63 years Doris of the home, one daughter, Suzan Tidwell and husband Tony of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, three sons: John J. Evans of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Bill Evans of Ft. Smith, Arkansas and Ric Evans and wife Kelli of Waldron, Arkansas. Grandpa will be missed by his nine grandchildren: John David, Mark, Angie, Tina, Jason, Levi, Beau, Jacob and Brooke and as well as 7 great grandchildren. John will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of extended family, friends, neighbors and loved ones.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Myrtle Evans, two sisters, Nada Currier and Ann Oliver as well as three brothers: Leon, Leo and LaMoine Evans.
John's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2015 at the Waldron First Baptist Church in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Ken Overturf officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
John's pallbearers will be Jason Tidwell, Levi Tidwell, Wade Robertson, Myrten Owens, Miles Dozier and Billy Gene Davis. Honorary pallbearers will be Ray Rice, Neil Cherry, Jim Henry Currier, Benny Newberry and Slick Sherrill.
John's visitation will be Friday, May 22, 2015 from 12:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where John's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to American Cancer Society, 6307 Alma Highway, Alma, AR 72921 or FBC Building Fund, c/o Waldron First Baptist Church.
