James Otto Cook Jr. of Mt. Ida, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Monday, April 13, 2015 in Hot Springs, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. James was born December 23, 1939 to James O. Cook and Catherine (McCord) Cook in Bates, Arkansas. James was 75 years, 3 months and 21 days old.
In 1961, James began to serve his country in the United States Army. He held many positions in his three years active duty. He was in the 207th Military Intelligence Detachment, U.S. 7th Calvary, and an Aerial Photographer Interpreter. He graduated USA Intelligence School in August of 1962 and became an Image Interpreter. After his Honorable Discharge from the Army, James went on to further his education by obtaining A.A.S. degrees in Architecture & Building Construction & Technology, Business Administration and Computer Science, and a B.A. degree in General Studies. At retirement in 2002, James was a Professor of Graphics and Design at SAU Tech in Camden, Arkansas.
In 1963 he married the love of his life, Monica. Together they raised three bouncing boys into amazing men. James and Monica then became the treasured grandparents. James loved spending time with his family making fond memories and took great pleasure in studying and talking about his genealogy research.
James is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Monica Luise (Pfister) Cook of Mount Ida, Arkansas, three sons: James H. Cook of Fort Collins, Colorado, Jason Cook of Brooklyn Heights, New York and Justin S. Cook of Fort Worth, Texas and one sister Peggy (Cook) Peterson of Fairview, Texas. "Poppa" will forever remain in the hearts of his three grandchildren: Christopher, Gabriel and Malachi.
James is preceded in death by his parents, James and Catherine Cook, and one brother, Timothy H. Cook.
James' graveside life celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 18, 2015 at the Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas with interment to follow. Rev. David McCord will be officiating. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
James' visitation will be Friday, April 17, 2015 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
