Gerald aka Jerry Wayne Lyles of Greenwood, Arkansas formerly of Waldron, Arkansas age 87 passed away peacefully in his home on Tuesday, May 15, 2018 surrounded by family.
Jerry spent his life in service enrolling in the Navy at 17 where he spent 10 years serving his country and after his honorable discharge enrolling in the Army where he served for another 19 years obtaining the rank of staff Sargent. Jerry loved serving his country and did so with pride. After his years in the service Jerry continued to serve, this time as a Deputy Sheriff in Waldron, Arkansas. When it was all said and done he finished out his working years traveling the country as a truck driver before retiring to live out his remaining years with his wife.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Jeanie, his precious daughter Debra and her husband Robert Millar, two sons Randy Rowton, Billy Rowton and his wife Judy as well as numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and his puppy Molly who never left his side.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Annie Burton and Hobie Lyles, his first wife Bonnie Lyles, two children Jerry Lyles and Catherine Frye and a grandson Michael Burns.
Jerry's graveside life celebration will be 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2018 at the National Cemetery in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Interment will immediately follow. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to River City Ministry, 1021 East Washington Ave., North Little Rock, AR 72114.
