Worman J. Owens of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Sunday, September 1, 2013 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Worman was born December 25, 1937 to Buster J. Owens and Lela Marie (Gipson) Owens in Needmore, Arkansas. Worman was 75 years, 8 months and 7 days old.

Worman married the love of his life, Sharon Hudgens, and together they shared 53 years before her passing in May 2013. At the young age of 17, Worman caught a bus and went to New York City. From there he joined the US Air Force and served four years. During that time he spent 18 months in Morocco. After returning to Scott County, Worman began his life long career in public service by working in the office at the Waldron Furniture Factory, followed by tenure at AVI doing payroll and dispatch. He enjoyed giving supplies to the people and especially the little old ladies. He then continued from 1973 to 1979 to serve as elected official for the County and Circuit Clerk for Scott County. In 1979 he then was elected for two terms as Scott County Judge. Worman then was appointed to the Dept. of Finance & Administration as the revenue agent. He was also co-owner of Waldron Realty. He then later served as road foreman under Scott Co. Judge ?Sparky?. He also served as deputy tax assessor and later was elected as Scott County Tax Assessor from 1993 until 2006 when he retired. Worman was very particular about his work. He was known as the ?go to person? in the court house if you needed something. He would help anyone he could. Worman was very close to his family including his siblings. He was certainly a family man and enjoyed life everyday.

Worman leaves behind to cherish his memory, four children: Lisa Pace, James Owens, Jeffery Owens and Lori Jones all of Waldron, Arkansas. Pop will forever be missed by his grandchildren: Taylon Pace, Donovan Pace, Zachary Owens, Michele Owens Gonzalez, Austyn Jones, Brody Jones, April Owens, Chelsie Owens and Casey Owens as well as six great grandchildren. Worman is also survived by one sister Verna Rogers and husband Jimmy, and one brother, Donnie Owens and wife Kay all of Waldron, Arkansas. Worman will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a host of nieces, nephews, close friends and loved ones.

Worman is preceded in death by the love of his life, Sharon (Hudgens) Owens, his parents, Buster Owens and Lela M. Calvert, one sister, Mavis Trumble and brother in law Leroy Trumble.

Worman?s life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, 2013 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Worman?s pallbearers will be Taylon Pace, Zach Owens, Casey Owens, Donovan Pace, Austyn Jones and Brody Jones. Honorary pallbearers will be Do Good Jones, L.J. Waranaku, Joe Powell, Kellow Holland, Jimmy Rogers, Glen Dale Sparks and Pete Powell.

Worman?s visitation will be Tuesday, September 3, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Worman?s family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
