Volton Goddard

Volton Goddard of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Thursday, October 25, 2012 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Volton was born July 6, 1923 to Jim Bell Goddard and Mary Lou (Warren) Goddard in the Bush Community near Waldron, Arkansas. Volton was 89 years, 3 months and 19 days old. In 1943 Volton joined the United States Army. He proudly served in the Infantry Division until 1946. While in the Army he received two Bronze Stars. After his tenure in the military, he married the love of his life, Bernice. Together, Volton and Bernice raised their children and became grandparents. Volton was devoted to his family and loved each and every one of them. He was very proud to be a grandpa. Volton leaves behind to cherish his memory, his bride of 61 years, Bernice Flynn Goddard of the home, four sons: Ronald Lee & wife Libby of Waldron, Arkansas, Danny Ray & wife Sherry of Booneville, Arkansas, Johnny Leon of Waldron, Arkansas and Larry James & wife Tracy of Tonitown, Arkansas, and one daughter, Patricia Lynn Hall & husband Jimmy of Waldron, Arkansas. Poppaw will forever be missed by his grandchildren and great grandchildren: Tracy & Jack Williams, Jennifer & Kevin Adams, Nathan & Lindsey Goddard, Jessica & Jesse Plummer, Jered & Keely Goddard, Matthew & Colleen Goddard, Deven Goddard, Whitney Weaver, Sidney Duerr, Kelsey Adams, Ethen Adams, Trey Williams, Braden Williams & Madison Goddard. Volton will also be missed by many friends and loved ones. Volton is preceded in death by his parents, Jim Bell and Mary Goddard and two brothers, Billy Mack and Jimmy Dale Goddard. Volton?s life celebration will be 1:00 p.m. Monday, October 29, 2012 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with the Rev. Robert Hicks officiating. Interment will follow in the Bush Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Volton?s pallbearers will be Nathan Goddard, Jered Goddard, Matthew Goddard, Deven Goddard, Jack Williams, Trey Williams, Jim Hall, Kevin Adams, Jesse Plummer and Jerry Bottoms. Volton?s visitation will be Sunday, October 28, 2012 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
