Vernis Johnnie McKinzie of Hon, Arkansas passed from this life, Saturday, January 14, 2012. He was born March 17, 1946 in Pine Ridge, Arkansas to the late Johnnie A and Vonzula Yarbrough McKinzie. Vernis was 65 years, 9 months, and 28 days old. He lived in this area his whole life. Vernis left this note: ?Life was one great show. He had a lot of fun playing the game, even when he got down to walking with a cane. Friends, kin, children, grandchildren and great-grandkids, He tried to give them a helping hand, and always, always do the best you can. Grieve for a short while and let me go. Vernis leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 46 years, Billie Jean McKinzie of the home, one daughter, Tina Jean Duncan of Cauthron, Arkansas and one son Vernis McKinzie II of Hon, Arkansas. Vernis will forever be remembered by four grandchildren: Crystal, John, Ian and Stevie and seven great grandchildren. Vernis is also survived by two sisters, Janiene Eastin of Crystal Springs, Arkansas and Loretta Waddle of Elm Park, Arkansas as well as two brothers, Dennis McKinzie of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Galen Yarbourgh of Angleton, Texas. Friends and extended family are invited to a come and go memorial reception to be held Saturday, January 21, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Hon Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Interment will follow in Square Rock Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home and Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
