Thomas Earl Neal, 72 of Carbondale, Illinois, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. John's Hospital in Springfield, Illinois.
He was born in Waldron, Arkansas on May 8, 1938 to Opal and Inez (Austin) Neal. He married Betty Martin on October 6, 1986, in Waldron, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Opal and Inez Neal and his brother in law Bob Erwin.
Tom was a U.S. Army veteran. He retired from ABF Trucking. After his retirement, he drove a school bus for the Carterville School District. He loved trucks and tractors. He and his wife Betty raised and showed miniature horses. He was a member of the Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Betty, three sons, David and his wife Sheryl Neal of Oceanside, California, Kent and wife Tammy Neal of South Amherst, Ohio; and Shawn Neal of Anaheim,California; ten grandchildren; one brother, Bill Neal and wife Roswitha of Dallas, Texas; one sister Sandy Neal Erwin of Dallas, Texas; two nieces; one nephew; one great niece and one great nephew.
A memorial service will be held at 3 P.M. Saturday, January 22, 2011, at the Drury Christian Church, Carbondale, Illinois, with Reverand Moran officiating.
