Shirley Castleberry

Shirley (Rogers) Castleberry of Fayetteville, Arkansas (formerly of Waldron, Arkansas) went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Fayetteville, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Shirley was born August 7, 1937 to Otto Rogers and Susie (McCullar) Rogers in Y City, Arkansas. Shirley was 75 years, 5 months and 20 days old. Shirley ?Gran? Castleberry grew up in ?Y? City, Arkansas. She spent many years in the insurance industry helping countless people with all their insurance needs. In 2006 , she moved to Fayetteville, Arkansas to spend more time with her grandchildren. Her favorite pastimes were gardening, canning jellies and tomatoes for juices and sauces. Shirley?s true love was spending time with her sons and their families. She also enjoyed an extended neighborhood family, gathering together to have barbeques and simply laughing and sharing stories. Shirley was a friend to all and her smile was quite contagious. Shirley leaves behind to cherish her memory, three sons: David McConnell and wife Rachelle of Fayetteville, Arkansas, Shane McConnell of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Clay McConnell of "Y" City, Arkansas. ?Gran? will forever be missed by her grandchildren: Kalie Gilbert and husband Jason; Deric McConnell, Sydney and Mason McConnell all of Fayetteville, Arkanss and great-granddaughter Avery Gilbert of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Shirley is also survived by two sisters: Mary McConnell and husband Clarence of "Y" City, Arkansas and Bonnie Nix and husband Doug of Needmore, Arkansas as well as two brothers: Bill Rogers and wife Sondy of "Y" City, Arkansas and Bernice Rogers and wife Ima of "Y" City, Arkansas. Shirley will be missed by all that knew her and the many who?s lives were impacted by her including a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Shirley is preceded in death by her husband Don Castleberry; parents Otto and Susie (McCullar) Rogers; brother Ben and wife Lou Crump; brother Jim and wife Matilda Rogers; sister Bernice Rogers. Shirley?s life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Rev. Mike Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in the Chant Cemetery in Y-City, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Shirley?s pallbearers will be nephews. Shirley?s visitation will be Tuesday, January 29, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Shirley?s family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Shirley?s honor to Washington Regional Hospice Care, 34 W.
