Ruth Lorene Self went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 5, 2012 in Waldron, Arkansas. Ruth was born January 5, 1920 to Otto Perry Parker and Dovie Missoura (Holly) Parker in Union Hill, Arkansas. Ruth was born the second baby of a set of twins. Ruth was 92 years and 7 months old.
Ruth was a homemaker. She loved working in the garden, sewing, quilting and fishing as long as she was able. In recent years she like to watch Early Edition, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, Porter Wagner, The Gaithers, Hew Haw and the News. Ruth was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church. Although failing health kept her from attending church she watched ?Hope from Above? on television every Sunday.
Ruth will be missed by many but is now pain free and with the Lord.
Ruth leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Karen Bohall and husband, Ken of Waldron, Arkansas, one son, Bruce Self of Waldron, Arkansas. Grandma will be forever missed by twelve grandchildren, twenty four great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren. Ruth is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Ruth is preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Bill Self; parents, Otto Parker and Dovis (Holly) Parker; three children, Janice Miller, Billy Wayne Self and Keith Self. Ruth is also preceded by one granddaughter, Shelli Self, three siblings, Opal Parker, Rubin Parker and Grace Parker.
Ruth?s life celebration will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 8, 2012 at the Mt. Pleasant Methodist Church near Waldron, Arkansas with Diane Miller officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
Ruth?s pallbearers will be Anthony Self, Darin Self, John Self, Russell Miller, Michael Manning, David Self and Bryan Self. Honorary pallbearers will be Bruce Dorr, Willie Brigance and Gordon Smith.
Ruth?s visitation will be Tuesday, August 7, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
