Ray Nichols, 89, of Poteau, OK. formerly of Waldron, Arkansas passed away Sunday, March 8, 2009 at his home.
Ray was born in Parks, Arkansas on November 21, 1919, the son of the late Virgil and Hettie (Watts) Nichols. He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II.
Ray is survived by his wife Eiline Nichols of the home; three daughters Greta Ranten of Poteau, OK; Jodi Hoffman of Poteau, OK; Charlotte Holland of Waldron, AR; one son, David Nichols of Poteau, OK; one step daughter, Kathern Porter of Haskell, OK; one brother, Leon Nichols of Fayetteville, AR; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his father Virgil and mother Hettie Nichols. His first wife, Faye Nichols, and one brother Jeff Nichols.
Ray?s funeral service will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 10th, 2009 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Waldron with the Rev. Joyce McGowen and Rev. Joe Atkinson officiating, with interment in Duncan Cemetery under the direction of the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be the Army Honor Guard.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, March 8, 2009, 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at the Funeral home
