Peter Garfield Murray Hitchcock

Peter Garfield Murray Hitchcock went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, January 29, 2014 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by his loving family. Peter was born October 18, 1926 in West Tulsa, Oklahoma to Homer Alonzo Hitchcock and Gracie Ellen Miller. Peter was 87 years, 3 months and 11 days old. Peter was a member of Waldron Pentecostal Church of God.

Peter was a United States Army Veteran of World War II. While he was serving his country, he was also a member of the Golden Gloves boxing team. As a young man, Peter loved to play his guitar, he even travelled with a gospel group. Peter was a man of diversity having hobbies that ranged from collecting Matchbox Cars, leather working and lock smithing. He also was a truck driver and a taxi cab driver for a period of time. While Peter was a jack of all trades, his love for his family, was by far, the one he mastered. He enjoyed every moment and every memory he had with his loved ones.

Peter leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Evelyn Hitchcock of Waldron, Arkansas, two sons, Mike Hitchcock and wife Judy of Waldron, Arkansas and Danny Hitchcock and wife Erline of Waldron, Arkansas, two daughters: Beatrice Romacly of Huntington Beach, California, Glenda Stevens and husband Bill of Ontario, California and one sister Betty Edge of Florida. Grandpa will forever remain in the hearts of his twelve grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren. Peter is also survived by numerous step children and grandchildren. Peter will be missed by all who knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including a large extended family, friends and loved ones.

Peter is preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Vivian Hitchcock and one son, Garland Wayne Hitchcock.

Peter's life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, February 3, 2014 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Larry Justice officiating. Interment will follow in Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Peter's visitation will be Sunday, February 2, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
