Olen E. Owens, better of known as "Bookie", of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Saturday, October 28, 2017 in Waldron, Arkansas. Bookie was born April 15, 1951 in Waldron, Arkansas to Tomie Owens and Alma Owens Johnson. Bookie was 66 years old.
Bookie was a proud veteran of the United States Army. He was a tank driver. He then served a time of duty in the Army National Guard. After his service in the military, Bookie was a heavy equipment operator in the construction business. He was a kind and helpful person. He was friendly and was liked by all that knew him. Bookie was well known around town, in fact, it could be said he was a fixture at Country Express, always greeting people, holding open a door and waving at the young ones. He will be deeply missed by everyone.
Bookie leaves behind to cherish his memory an extended family of friends and loved ones.
Bookie was preceded in death by his parents, Tomie Owens and Alma Johnson.
Bookie's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, November 1, 2017 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas. Interment will follow in the Union Hill Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Bookie's visitation will be Tuesday, October 31, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Memorial Contributions may be made c/o Olen "Bookie" Owens, at Chambers Bank or Community National Bank to help cover final expenses or Union Hill Cemetery.
