Max Ray Smith

Max Ray Smith of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, July 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Max was born August 10, 1937 in Waldron, Arkansas to William Edgar Smith and Stella (Houge) Smith. Max was 78 years, 10 months and 21 days old. He was a member of Freedom Freewill Baptist Church near Waldron, Arkansas.

Max proudly served his country in the United States Army and then in the United States National Guard. In 1983, Max married the love of his life, Louanna. They have enjoyed 33 years together. Max was a hard worker and he loved providing for his family. His family was his life. He enjoyed spending time with them and making forever memories. Everyone was special to Max. Everyone has a Pawpaw story to tell. He touched the lives of many people near and far.

Max leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Louanna Smith of the home, four children: Michael Smith and wife Tina of Mansfield, Arkansas, Jackie Smith of Mansfield, Arkansas, Saprina Yandell of Waldron, Arkansas and Rick and Michelle Edwards of Chester, Arkansas. Pawpaw will forever remain in the hearts of his grandchildren: Alishia Deramus and husband Waylon of Waldron, Arkansas, Kayla Cottrell and husband Stanley of Boles, Arkansas, Jared Smith and wife Laura of Huntington, Arkansas, Abby Morgan and husband Cameron of Van Buren, Arkansas, Taylor Smith of Mansfield, Arkansas and Kaitlin Miller of Parks. Pawpaw leaves a legacy with his great grandchildren: McKena Deramus and Garron Deramus of Waldron, Arkansas, Maeleigh Cottrell and Hayes Cottrell of Boles, Arkansas, Everleigh Smith and Leighton Smith of Huntington, Arkansas and Aiden Forrest and Aubrey Cairns of Parks, Arkansas. Max is also survived by one brother, Millard Smith and wife Delta of Booneville, Arkansas, one sister: Nellie Faria of Waldron, Arkansas. Max will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him, including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, neighbors and loved ones dear to him.

Max was preceded in death by his parents, William and Stella Smith, two daughters, Sarie Edwards and Sheila Riddle, two grandsons, Payton Lee and Sean Miller as well as his brothers: Earnest, Edgar, Bill, Tom, Raymond Glen, Johnnie Ray, Edgar Eugene and sisters, Belle Goff and Virginia Ward.

Max's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Rev. Robert Presson officiating. Interment will follow in the Birdsview Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Max's visitation will be Tuesday, July 5, 2016 from3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where Max's family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
