Mary Alice (Bowles) Slaten of Boles, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Tuesday, November 13, 2012 in Waldron, Arkansas. Mary was born September 22, 1936 to William Bowles and Elcie (Vegas) Bowles in Boles, Arkansas. Mary was 76 years, 1month and 22 days old. Mary was an active member of Evening Shade Baptist Church where she was the song leader. Mary was very involved in her church community. She loved to read, and spend time with family and friends. Mary leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Sherry Slaten of Waldron, Arkansas, and three sons Buddy Slaten of Waldron, Arkansas, Bobby Slaten of Saudi Arabia, and Patrick Slaten and wife Kim of Pocola, Oklahoma. Mary is also survived by a long time companion, Jack Bard. ?Granny? will also be forever remembered by her grandchildren, Genesis (Ginger) Hobbs, James(Bubba) Slaten, Jeremy Slaten, all of Waldron, Arkansas. Mindi Lynn, and Lindsey Bishop of Mt. Ida, Arkansas, and Jessica Pero, Brianna, Dakota and Emily Slaten of Pocola, Oklahoma. Granny was also blessed with ten great grandchildren. Mary will be missed by all that knew her and the many who?s lives were impacted by her including numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends and loved ones. Mary is preceded in death by her husband E.J. Slaten and her parents, William and Elcie Bowles, one son, James Slaten, two sisters, Edna and Virginia, two brothers George Bowles, and Billy Bowles.. Mary?s life celebration will be10:00 a.m. Friday, November 16, 2012 at the Evening Shade Baptist Church near Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Charles Whedbee and Rev. Collin Lane officiating. Interment will follow in the Square Rock Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Mary?s pallbearers will be Patrick Slaten, Buddy Slaten, Bubba Slaten, Jeremy Slaten, Johnny Murray and Dale Kopf. Honorary pallbearer will be Jack Bard. Mary?s visitation will be Thursday, November 15, 2912 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
