Lorrie M. Cox, Musician First Class, United States Navy, age 39 of Memphis passed from this life on Monday, August 24, 2009 a the St. Francis Hospital in Bartlett, Tennessee.
She was born May 20, 1970 in Abilene, Kansas to the Dr. John Edward Dunn and Martha Dunn.
Lorrie was an accomplished clarinetist, saxophonist and musician with the United States Navy for the past 18 years. Lorrie was devoted to her family and found time to volunteer with numerous Navy and civilian organizations. She always had time for her family and so many others as well as working on her doctorate at the University of Phoenix.
Lorrie is survived by her loving husband, Adam Cox; one daughter Sydnee Rylee Cox, who was the love of her life; her mother, Martha Dunn of Cheyenne, Wyoming; and one brother Darrell Dunn of Phoenix, Arizona.
Lorrie?s funeral service will be held Tuesday, September 1, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with interment with full military honors in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Lorrie?s pallbearers will be members of the United States Navy Honor Guard.
Lorrie?s visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Sunday, August 30, 2009 and 8:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Monday, August 31, 2009.
Her family will receive friends at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, Monday evening from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m..
In lieu of flowers the family request that memorials be sent to the Dr. John Edward Dunn Memorial Scholarship in Chadron, Nebraska.
