Lillie Mae (Hawthorne) Laird of Y-City, Arkansas went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, March 8, 2013 in Y-City Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Lillie was born January 10, 1918 to James Berry Hawthorne and Ola (Tolleson) Hawthorne in Boles, Arkansas. Lillie was 95 years, 1 month and 18 days old.
Lillie grew up in Boles, Arkansas. She was the first to graduate from Boles High School in 1935. She married the love of her life, Garland Laird on November 19, 1937. Together they lived 25 plus years until his passing in 1965. Lille loved caring for her family and spending time with them. She was of the Baptist faith.
Lillie leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Evelyn Howard of Y-City, Arkansas; three sons, Bruce Laird and wife, Mary of Waldron, Arkansas, Dan Laird and wife, Vicky of Waldron, Arkansas, and Carl Laird and wife, Donna of Boles, Arkansas. Gran will forever be missed by seven grandchildren, Lisa Laird Webb, Sussannah Stearns, Daniel Laird, III, Jimmy Laird, Debbie Pilger, Robert Hardin, and Adam Laird. Lillie Mermaid, as her fifteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren called her, will also cherish her memory. Lillie will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her including a host of friends and loved ones.
Lillie is preceded in death by her husband, Garland Laird; daughter, Marilyn Laird; and parents, James Berry and Ola Hawthorne.
Lillie?s life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at the Cedar Creek Cemetery in Cedar Creek, Arkansas with Rev. Herman Woodard, officiating. Interment will follow in the Cedar Creek Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
Lillie?s pallbearers will be Billy Richard Rogers, Clarence McConnell, Joe Laird, Glen Dale ?Sparky? Sparks, Richard Cagle, and Wayne Langley.
Lillie?s visitation will be Monday, March 11, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Lillie?s family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers Lillie?s family has requested memorials may be made to the Scot County Boys and Girls Club, c/o Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, P.O. Box 358, Waldron, Arkansas 72958.
