Leonard Sherrill

Leonard L. Sherrill, 98, of Waldron, Arkansas died on August 29, 2009 in a Waldron nursing home. Mr. Sherrill was born August 24, 1911 in Waldron, Arkansas and the son of the late, David Meeks Sherrill and Emily Abigail Slater Sherrill. Mr. Sherrill was a farmer and member of the Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, Arkansas. He was preceded by his wives, Violett Velma Phillips Sherrill and Julia Earnestine Slater Sherrill, five sisters and three brothers, a grandson, David Sherrill and four half sisters. Survivors include are his sons, Leonard D. Sherrill of Shertz, Texas, Donald Sherrill, Boles, Arkansas and Teddy Ray Sherrill of Sanger, Texas and a daughter, Judy Doreen Daw of The Woodlands, Texas, two sisters, Ora M. Powell of Texas and Opal Phillips of Star City, Arkansas, seven grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. Family will receive friends during visitation on Monday, August 31 from 6-8pm at Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas, Arkansas. Services at 2:00 Pm, Tuesday September 1, 2009 Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Dumas, Arkansas with Rev,. Julius Carter officiating followed by burial in Drake Cemetery, Star City, Arkansas under the direction of Griffin Funeral Home in Dumas, Arkansas. Local arrangements are entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas. Memorials in his memory may be to charity of donor?s choice.
