Kenneth Wayne Preston, of Parks, Arkansas passed from this life, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 in Mena, Arkansas. Kenneth was born April 20, 1931 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to William Arden Preston, Sr. and Mary Thelma (Woods) Preston. Kenneth was 82 years, 9 months and 1 day old. Kenneth was a member of the Parks Methodist Church.
Kenneth served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954. He was decorated with medals of National Defense, Good Conduct, United Nations Service, Korean Service, and Navy Occupation Medal E clasp. After the Navy, Kenneth worked for Sun Oil Company in West Texas for 40 years. Upon retirement he relocated to his current home of Parks, Arkansas.
Kenneth is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Cecelia Preston of the home, three children, Barry Wayne Preston of Arkansas, Daniel Allen Preston and wife Pam of Hawaii and Karen Elaine (Preston) Schnitker and husband Clifford of Murphy, Texas. Kenneth is also survived by seven grandchildren: Bridget Maxwell, Belinda Preston, Jamie Webb, Amber Preston, Jared Kluthe, Matthew Hancock, and Marissa Hancock, as well as ten great grandchildren. Kenneth is also survived by one brother William Preston Jr. and wife Claudene of Converse Louisiana. Kenneth will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his parents, William A. Preston Sr. and Mary T. Preston, one sister, Patricia Brasuel, one brother Daniel G. Preston and father in law and mother in law, Verl and Vida Hoffman.
Kenneth's graveside life celebration will be at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 27, 2014 at the Fort Smith National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Rev. Pat Ray Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the National Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Kenneth's visitation will be Sunday, January 26, 2014 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where Kenneth's family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m.
