Katherlene Morrison

Katherlene (Kay) Morrison, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister passed away peacefully at home on January 27, 2010. Born in the state of Arkansas, on May 3, 1920. Katherlene was raised in Arkansas. Where she met and married John Morrison in 1939. They moved to Forester, Arkansas where they had a baby daughter Guinette. During World War II they moved with their new born daughter to San Francisco, where Katherlene worked in a munitions factory during the war. After the war they returned to Arkansas, and then moved to San Diego in 1948 permanently. Ron, Katherlene's son came along shortly thereafter. Katherlene or Kay, as most of her friends called her. Started selling Avon, and won many awards over her 35 year career. She enjoyed meeting with all of her customers in National City, and many became lifelong friends. Kay & John always looked forward to their summers of camping & fishing in the High Sierras. Many of these years were spent as campground hosts. Kay is survived by her daughter Guinette (Guin) Beckstrom of Chula Vista and her husband Delos. son Ron Morrison, mayor of National City and his wife Sherry. She is also survived by six grandchildren: Jim, Penny, Jeremy, Matthew, Jennifer, and Janise, and six great-grandchildren: Brian, Scott, Michael, Amanda, Jonah and Conner. She also leaves behind her sisters Edna Watson of Arizona, and Vick Porter, Vida Hoffman and Joanna Rhyne all of Waldron, Arkansas. Kay is preceded in death by her beloved husband John Morrison, grandson Joshua Morrison, and her twin sister Katherene Murray. She has lots of other relatives and many friends she loved dearly. Kay?s funeral service was held Monday, February 1, 2010 with interment in the Glen Abbey Memorial Park in Bonita, California.
