Julia Madge Carden

Julia Madge Carden of Hartford, Arkansas passed this life, Wednesday, January 1, 2014 in her home. Julia was born March 11, 1919 to William Franklin and Emma (Harbor) Sloan in Monroe, Oklahoma. Julia was 94 years, 9 months, and 22 days old. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Arkansas.

Julia was married to the love of her life, the late Erthel Carden for 61 years. She loved to study her bible and was an avid reader. She wrote stories and poems when she was not sewing.

Julia leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter, Dana Lea Hunt and husband John of Hartford, Arkansas. Grandmother will also be missed by two granddaughters, Julia M. Hern and husband, Kenneth of Mansfield, Arkansas, Katherine L Chisholm and husband, Bryan of Bowie, Texas. Julia will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her including nieces, nephews, friends and many loved ones.

Julia is preceded in death by her parents, William Franklin and Emma Sloan; three brothers, Paul Sloan, Ralph Sloan, Talmon Sloan; and one sister, Lois Byers.

Julia's live celebration will be at 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Arkansas with Dr. Tom Harris, officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery in Hartford, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

Julia's pallbearers will be Kirk Pennington, Carl Hoopengarner, Craig Wright, Dean Barnes, Wayne Wooten and Jason Allen.

Julia's visitation will be 1:30 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014 at the First Baptist Church in Hartford, Arkansas.
