Flossie Juanita "Nita" Ellington of Kansas City, Missouri, formerly of Waldron, Arkansas, passed from this life, Saturday, September 20, 2014 in Kansas City, Missouri. Nita was born April 10, 1921 to Ora Francis Allman and Nora Winson (Hess) Allman in Capulin, New Mexico. Nita was 93 years, 5 months and 10 days old. She was of the Methodist faith.
Nita loved to sew and read. She was notorious for her cooking, especially her homemade pies. Nita could also be found watching the Razorbacks and the Kansas City Chiefs play. Before retirement, Nita enjoyed working at the Lady's and Men's Shop in Waldron, Arkansas where she would see friends and acquaintances and she enjoyed helping them find treasures to take home with them. Nita loved her family. Memories made with them were priceless treasures.
Nita leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Sherri Redding McLaughlin and husband Donald of Kansas City, Missouri. Mamaw will forever remain in the hearts of 3 granddaughters: DuLane Gash and husband Darryl of Cabot, Arkansas, DeMaris Barnett and husband Danny of Greenwood, Arkansas, and Dana Stockton and husband Donald of Waldron, Arkansas, as well as, four great grandchildren: Nicholas Barnett, Daly Barnett, Clayton Stockton and Eric Stockton. Nita will also be missed by one sister, Dorothy Burgtorf of Fort Worth, Texas. Nita will forever be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her including many friends and loved ones.
Nita is preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Everett Wayne Ellington, and her parents, Ora and Nora Allman.
Nita's life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Booneville, Arkansas with Rev. Diane Miller officiating. Interment will follow. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Nita's pallbearers will be Darryl Gash, Danny Barnett, Donald Stockton, Nicholas Barnett, Daly Barnett and Clayton Stockton. Honorary pallbearers will be Eric Stockton, Don Carpenter and Odell Staggs.
Nita's visitation will be Friday, September 26, 2014 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. where Nita's family will receive friends at this time.
