Jean (Sims) Barker

Jean (Sims) Barker went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, July 17, 2016 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Jean was born January 13, 1925 in Boles, Arkansas to Herbert Sims and Dovie Watson Sims. She was a member of Boles Freewill Baptist Church in Boles, Arkansas.
Coming from a large family it was only natural that Jean would love to do things with her siblings. She had a very close bond with them. She loved when they would take sister trips and especially enjoyed Thursday lunches with the sisters. She also enjoyed hunting and cooking with her family. Jean looked forward to family gatherings and getting to see all her children and grandchildren.
Jean leaves behind to cherish her memory, 6 children: Brenda Taylor and husband Joe of Boles, Arkansas, Park Barker Jr. and wife Diane of Ulm, Arkansas, John Barker Sr. and wife Judy of Boles, Arkansas, Rebecca Parks and husband Ronald of Boles, Arkansas, Joe Barker of Boles, Arkansas, Paula Helton and husband Brian of Elm Park, Arkansas and one daughter in law, Velma Barker of Boles, Arkansas. Jean is also survived by two sisters: Sue Watkins and Catherine Pace, one brother, Doug Sims. Granny will forever remain in the hearts of her 17 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren. Jean will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives she impacted including a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors.
Jean was preceded in death by her loving husband, William Park Barker Sr., her parents, Herbert and Dovie Sims, one son, Jimmy Neil Barker Sr., two sisters, Evelyn Blaylock and Betty Payne, two brothers, Omer Sims and Buddy Ray Sims.
Jean's life celebration will be 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at the Boles Freewill Baptist Church in Boles, Arkansas with Rev. Pat Ray Biggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Dooley Cemetery near Boles, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Jean's pallbearers will be grandsons: Jimbo, Shane, Dagian, Jay, Thomas, Justin, Jake, Matt and Luke. Honorary pallbearers will be great grandsons: David, Kasey, JT, Easton, Denver, Deagan Paul, Bryson, Joseph, Cade and Landon.
Jean's visitation will be Tuesday, July 19, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home.
