James Edward Howard of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ Monday, November 28, 2011. Ed was born February 8, 1944 in San Bernardine, California to the late Arnold and Magdeline (Essman) Howard. Ed was 67 years, 9 months and 20 days old. Ed was an ordained minister, retired truck driver, and a general contractor. Ed owned and operated Nathan Trucking for 6 years. His passions included Jesus Christ and his wife and family. He also enjoyed camping at Lake Hinkle, hunting at Jones Creek and Walker Mountain, fishing, and playing chess. His main compadres were Mark Isham and his sons, and David Taff. He is survived by his wife of 30 and a half years Glenda Howard of Waldron, Arkansas; his daughter, Lisa Howard of Waldron, Arkansas; two sons, James (Jamie) Howard and wife Barbara of Springdale, Arkansas, and Sean Michael Howard and wife, Cindy of Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Ed was a grandpa to ten grandchildren, four great grandchildren, five nephews, eight nieces, eight great nephews, seven great nieces, five great-great nephews, two great great nieces. He is also survived by three sisters, Nona Arnett, Glenda Hadsock, and Sharon Johnson all of Gallatin, Tennessee; two brothers, Gail Howard and wife, Melody of Waldron, Arkansas, Gary Howard and wife, Cindy of Springfield, Tennessee; step-mother, Evelyn Howard of Waldron, Arkansas; a brother-in-law, Randy and wife, Samantha Scarbrough of Barling, Arkansas. Ed is also survived by a step-brother, Robert Hardin and wife Connie of Waldron, Arkansas; step sister, Debbie Pilger of Pensacola, Florida and a host of family and friends. Ed was preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by a baby sister Joyce Ann Howard, a daughter, Tracy Lynn Sims, his maternal grandparents, William Henry Essman and Maud (Thomas) Essman. Ed?s going home service will be Friday, December 2, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Oliver Cemetery with Rev. David Taff, officiating. Interment will follow in the Oliver Cemetery near Lake Hinkle, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Ed?s pallbearers will be Junior Helton, Mark Isham, Bub Silvey, Gerald Essman, Danny Arnett, and Matthew Howard. Ed?s visitation will be Thursday, December 1, 2011 from 12:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas. Ed?s family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been set up at Community National Bank, P. O. Box 788, Waldron, Arkansas 72958, James Edward Howard Memorial Fund.
