Jack Harlan Bard of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Wednesday, April 9, 2014 in Fort Smith, Arkansas, "Gone But Never Forgotten". Jack was born January 19, 1922 in Washington, Pennsylvania to John Samuel Bard and Della Clair (Seybert) Bard. Jack was 92 years, 2 months and 21 days old. Jack was a longtime member of the Evening Shade Baptist Church in Waldron, Arkansas.
Jack was married to the love of his life, Helen, for 54 years before her passing in 2001. Jack was a proud member of the United States Navy. He retired from his service in 1976 after dedicating 30 plus years to his country. While in the Navy he was a Master Chief Petty Officer (MRCM machinist). Jack was a member of Waldron Masonic Lodge #132 F &AM.
Jack leaves behind to cherish his memory, four grandsons: Johnathon M. Bard of Mena, Arkansas, Richard J. Bard and wife Mary of Waldron, Arkansas, Justin M. Bard of Hanover, Pennsylvania and Daniel Hartley and wife Chelsey of San Tan Valley, Arizona. Jack is also survived by his great grandchildren: Abigail Hartley of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Carolina Hartley of San Tan Valley, Arizona, Charie-Faye (Bard) Whitus and husband Brad of St. George, Utah, Karley K. Bard of St. George, Utah, Tyson J. Bard of Roy, Utah, Samantha Ruth Jean Ellisonn of Plain City, Utah, Dustin Adams of Waldron, Arkansas and Taylor Adams and husband Daniel Terry of Waldron, Arkansas as well as four great great grandchildren: Selina Whitus, Michel Whitus, Trever Whitus and Xander Joseph Lee Adams Terry. Jack will also be missed by one sister, Doris (Debbie) Eleene (Bard) Knestrick and husband Max of Washington, Pennsylvania, one brother, Lloyd Guy Bard and wife Donna of Houston, Pennsylvania, and two sister in laws, Lois Bard of Washington, Pennsylvania and Mabel Bard of Washington, Pennsylvania. Jack is also survived by his friend and companion Buddy, his dog.
Jack is preceded in death by his wife Helen Dorothy Martin Bard, one son, Martin Bruce Bard, four brothers: Samual Wallace Bard and wife Evelyn, Charles Leroy (Bud) Bard, Albert Glenn Bard, William James Bard, and one sister, Lois Helen (Bard) Orbin and husband George Orbin and one dear friend Mary Slaten.
Jack's graveside life celebration will at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 21, 2014 at the United States National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas with Rev. Collins Lane officiating. Interment with military honors will immediately follow in the National Cemetery. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
