Hubert Olyn Hurt

Hubert ?Hugh? Olyn Hurt of Fort Smith, Arkansas formerly of Jacksonville, Florida passed from this life September 20, 2011 in a Fort Smith hospital. Hugh was born May 30, 1925 in Louisville, Mississippi to the late Benjamin Clinton and Amanda Pearl (Cockrell) Hurt. After graduating high school he attended college and received his Masters of Divinity and then a Doctorate of Divinity. Hugh was a Baptist minister and missionary. He was the Language Missions Director for the Florida Baptist Convention for 25 years and retired in 1990. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Fort Smith and was a previously a member of the Deer Meadows Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida. Hugh is survived by his wife, Eva Hurt whom he married August 18, 1949; a daughter, Sharon McGraw of Waldron, Arkansas; a son, David Hurt of Atlanta, Georgia; two granddaughters, Hollie Carnes, Ricklie Hurt; three grandsons, John Andrew McGraw, Marlon David Hurt, and Graham Hurt. Hubert?s graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 22, 2011 at the Square Rock Cemetery with George McGraw, officiating. Internment will follow in the Square Rock Cemetery. Arrangement are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
