Henry Durrel Murphy, 73, of Waldron, Arkansas passed away Monday, December 29, 2008 in a Waldron Hospital.
Durrel was born in Murfreesboro, Arkansas on September 2, 1935 to Henry and Bertha (James) Murphy. He moved to California as a child and graduated from Willits High School in 1954. He was a certified Chevrolet Mechanic for over 35 years. Durrel was an avid hunter and fisherman and he loved to travel. He spent 12 years traveling to various parts of the country selling antique car parts. His favorite place was Hot August Nights swap meet in Reno, Nevada. Durrel lived in Springdale, Arkansas for 17 years, after retiring he moved back to Waldron. He is a member of the Waldron Church of Christ and lifetime member of the North American Hunting Club.
He is survived by his wife Mona (Powell) Murphy of the home, Daughter Kimberly Hewitt and grandchildren, Skyler and Brandon Hewitt of the home; daughter Nancy Taylor and husband Shawn of Waldron, AR; daughter Cathy Koch and husband Bill of Faytteville, AR; daughter Ann Lorenz and husband Russ of Willits, California; daughter Michele Pyle and husband John of Lincoln, AR; adopted daughters Marilyn Hegna and husband Tiny of Springdale, AR., Susan Ingle of Willits, CA., 29 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and a host of friends and relatives.
Durrel was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Jackson and Bertha Lee (James) Murphy.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 at the Waldron Church of Christ with interment in the Mt. Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, AR.
Pallbearers will be Emmett Barnett, Charlie Bliss, Brad Stamps, Rick Metcalf, Raymond Self and Kerry Barnett.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, and 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home. The family will receive friends Thursday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral Home.
