Gordon J. Alander, 89, of Waldron, Arkansas formerly of Cherokee Village, Arkansas passed away Thursday, July 2, 2009 in the Waldron Nursing Center.
He was born October 24, 1919 in Rockford, Illinois the son of the late Leon and Gertrude (Naughton) Alander.
Gordon was a retired tool and die worker. He attended the Waldron First Church of the Nazarene.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Margaret, who passed October 30, 2005. In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, his sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Richard Smith, and step-son, Joseph Randall Burman.
Gordon is survived by a daughter Patti Roets and her husband Dave of Waldron, Arkansas; son, Michael and wife Cindy of Cable, Wisconsin; two step-sons who he lovingly raised and supported as his own, Jerry Burman of Wichita, Kansas, Steve Burman of Rockford, Illinois; eight grandchildren, Kevin Stewart of Sherwood, Arkansas, Kari (Stewart) Griebel of Jacksonville, Arkansas, Kaitlin Yandell, and Keith Roets of Waldron, Arkansas, Chuck Burman of Alaska, Lynne Green of Dixon, Missouri, Teresa and Brandon Burman of Rockford, Illinois; seven great-grandchildren, Drew Griebel, Lily Stewart, Austin Yandell, Kristina and Jaclyn Green, Brayden and Heather Burman; special nieces, Joanne and her husband, James Martinson, and Beverly Jones both of Rockford, Illinois; numerous friends and caregivers at the Waldron Nursing Center.
Gordon?s memorial service will be Monday, July 13, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. at the Waldron First Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Marvin Frederick officiating. Arrangements are being entrusted to Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas
