George Hawkins

George Stephen Hawkins of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life Sunday, June 10, 2012 at his home surrounded by his loving family and close friends. George was born January 12, 1935 in Parks, Arkansas to John William Hawkins and Emma (Thompson) Hawkins. George was 77 years, 4 months and 9 days old. He was a member of the Parks Methodist Church in Parks, Arkansas.

When George was still a young fella, he met and married the love of his life, Buena Vista Rose. George was the owner and operator of Hawkins Wrecker Service for many, many years in Waldron, Arkansas. Because George enjoyed his job and loved to be able to help people, his job was also his hobby. When George became ?Papa? that became his new passion. He loved to spend time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was very proud of all his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

George leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife of 53 years, Buena of the home; a daughter, Jackie Davis and husband Larry, two sons, Steve Hawkins and wife Jeannette and John Hawkins. ?Papa? will forever be missed by his grandchildren: George Hawkins and wife Amanda, Emily Hulsey and husband Ben, Toshia Brandenbury and husband Eric, Dixie Adamson, Jessie Hawkins, Amanda Hawkins and Jeremy Hawkins. ?Papa? will also be missed by his great grandchildren: Kara, Nathan, Zach, Kaity, Gavin, Taylor, Chase, Jonathan, Mabel, and Jazmine. George is also survived by his sister, Janie Elmore, and brother Dalton Hawkins and wife Joyce along with many nieces, nephews, close friends and loved ones.

George is preceded in death by his parents, John W. Hawkins and Emma Thompson Hawkins, one sister Etta Gibson and one brother John Rowlan.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 13, 2012 at Hawkins Cemetery near Parks, Arkansas with Rev. Edward Catron officiating. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
