Freddie Charles Stringer of Fort Smith went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, May 17, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Fred was born October 23, 1946 to Arvil "Red" and Bess (Newman) Stringer in Waldron, Arkansas. Fred was 66 years, 6 months and 24 days old. Fred was a member and deacon of the Rye Hill Baptist Church in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Fred graduated from Waldron High School in 1964. He went on to graduate with a Bachelors of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering in 1970 from the University of Arkansas. He married his love, Lea Hudgens, in January of 1967. Fred was a Project Engineer, and RC& D coordinator for the Natural Resources Conservation Service. He retired in 2009 after 43 years of service. Fred enjoyed going quail hunting, going to Razorback football and basketball games. Fred loved his family very much and taking his grandson, Clay to trap shoot. Fred leaves behind to cherish his memory, his wife, Lea Stringer of the home; one daughter, Angela Nigh of Greenwood, Arkansas; one son, Todd Stringer of Greenwood, Arkansas; one grandson, Clayton M. Nigh of Greenwood, Arkansas; one brother, G. W. Stringer and wife, Barbara of Fort Smith, Arkansas. Fred is also survived by one uncle, Jess Stringer and wife Nancy of Hackett, Arkansas; two aunts, Rita McCann and husband, Tom of Waldron, Arkansas; and Marie Starr of Hot Springs, Arkansas. Fred will be missed by all that knew him and the many whose lives were impacted by him including his nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, friends and loved ones. Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Arvil "Red" Stringer and Bess (Newman) Stringer and a baby brother. Fred?s life celebration will be 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Rye Hill Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Franklin, officiating. Interment will be in the Hon Cemetery in Hon, Arkansas at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Fred's pallbearers, will be Mark Stringer, Ronnie Keener, Bill Garner, Jerry McGary, Herman Jarrett and Gary Fletcher. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of the Rye Hill Baptist Church. Fred's visitation will be 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., Monday, May 20, 2013 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, May 21, 2013 at the Rye Hill Baptist Church. Memorials may be made to the Hon Cemetery Fund, c/o Heritage Memorial Funeral Home, P.O. Box 358, Waldron, Arkansas 72958.
