Evelyn "Abbie" Himes Hitchcock

Evelyn "Abbie" Himes Hitchcock went to be with her Lord and Savior, Saturday, August 27, 2016 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by her loved ones. Abbie was born in Waldron, Arkansas, April 16, 1929 to Leonard Cheesman and Essie Canada Cheesman. Abbie was 87 years, 4 months and 11 days old. Abbie was a woman of strong faith and she loved the Lord with her every fiber.

Abbie loved the outdoors. She enjoyed camping, fishing, gardening and her beautiful flowers. When she had to be inside, she was a talented quilter. Abbie especially looked forward to having family gatherings with her kids and grandkids around her as often as possible. She had a warm spirit that welcomed everyone she met. Abbie was the best mother, grandmother and friend one could ever ask for.

Abbie leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter, Earline Brown of Lake Hinkle, Arkansas, four sons: Dub Himes of Elm Park, Arkansas, Vernie Himes, Lonnie Himes and Howard Himes all of Waldron, Arkansas. She is also survived by one sister, Leota Owens and one sister in law, Judy Cheesman both of Waldron, Arkansas. Grannie will forever remain in the hearts of her 17 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and a host of great great grandchildren. Abbie will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives she impacted, including an extended family of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones.

Abbie was preceded in death by her parents, Leonard and Essie Cheesman, first husband James Himes and her second husband Pete Hitchcock, one daughter, Wanda Hitchcock, one son, Thomas Himes, two brothers, Virgil Cheesman and Vernon Cheesman, and two sisters, Lucille Blankenship and Dorothy Cheesman.

Abbie's life celebration will be at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 31, 2016 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Bro. Larry Justice officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Abbie's pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be grandsons, great grandsons and great great grandsons.

Abbie's visitation will be Tuesday, August 30, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
