Elgin Dickens, 83, of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life Friday, August 26, 2011 in a Waldron, Arkansas hospital.
Elgin was born September 10, 1927 in Olio, Arkansas to the late John and Myrtle (Millard) Owens. She loved to fish. She was a member of the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God.
Elgin is survived by three sons, Allen Dickens and wife Beverly of Waldron, Arkansas, Dean Dickens and wife Cindy of Waldron, Arkansas, Doyle Dickens and wife Angela of Waldron, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Loren, Jarod, Crystal, Amy, Michelle, Charles, Doyle Wayne; three step-grandchildren, Jason, Bonita, Tamara; fifteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great- grandchildren.
She is also survived by two brothers, Jack Owens of Union Hill, Arkansas, and Boyd Owens of Paramount, California.
Elgin was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Dickens; one son, Adell Dickens, grandson, Nathan Allen Dickens, two granddaughters, Alicia Darlene Dickens and Alison Dickens; a sister, Kate McLaughlin; two brothers, Ules (Pud) Owens and J. T. Owens.
Elgin's funeral service will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, August 29, 2011 at the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God with Rev. Rickey Hunt, officiating. Interment will follow in the Square Rock Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
Elgin's pallbearers will be Loren, Doyle Wayne and Jarod Dickens, Sam Slater, Charles Dickens, Kirby Sanders, Morgan Young, and Alex Stauffer.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jack Owens and Boyd Owens.
Visitation will be held Sunday, August 28, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
