Elgie Jeffery

Elgie L. Jeffery age 90, or known by many as ?Snooks? went to be with her Lord and Savior Sunday, April 3, 2011 in a Fort Smith nursing home surrounded by her children and grandchildren. Elgie was born August 7, 1920 at Ola, Arkansas to the late Elbert and Cless (Brothers) Tinder. Elgie was a lifetime member of the Waldron Assembly of God Church. She was a Primary Sunday School Teacher and active in the Women?s Missionary Council. Anyone that knew Elgie knew she loved to garden, can and cook. She was pretty famous for her homemade hot rolls and butterscotch pies. She also enjoyed quilting. She has left her family with an amazing legacy. Just this past Christmas she quilted pillows for all her great-grandchildren. She has also given her children and grandchildren quilts. She will be missed by us all but will never be forgotten. Elgie is survived by two daughters, Dorothy Owens and husband Robert of Waldron, AR; Norma Carnahan and husband Ray of Little Rock, AR; and One Son James Jeffery and wife Dee of Waldron, AR, One Brother Joe Tinder, of Waldron, AR. 10 Grandchildren, 18 Great- Grandchildren, and 11 Great-Great Grandchildren. Elgie was preceded in death by her husband Arthur ?Slim? Jeffery of 56 years, Parents Elbert and Cless Tinder, Four Children: Elgie Dean Jeffery, Shirley Ann Jeffery, Joyce Jeffery Williams, and Charles Ray Jeffery, Sr. One Sister, Elsie Chrisman, One Brother Eldred Tinder and One Grandson Charles Ray Jeffery, Jr. Elgie?s funeral service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Waldron Assembly of God Church with the Rev. Donnie Wagner, and Rev. Rickey Hunt, officiating. Interment will follow in the Duncan Cemetery in Waldron, AR. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Elgie?s pallbearers will be Michael Owens, Bobby Owens, Jim Jeffery, Chris Carnahan, Rick Jeffery, Jason Jeffery. David and Edna Carnahan special friends and care givers. Elgie?s visitation will be 10:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home. Her family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
