Edna Marie Fielding of Waldron, Arkansas went to her heavenly home on Thursday, August 28, 2014 in Waldron, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Marie was born December 23, 1922 in Bartlett, Texas to William Koke and Effie June Koke. Marie was 91 years, 8 months and 5 days old.
Marie was a member of Haw Creek Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She was a graduate of Littlefield High School in Littlefield, Texas and a graduate of West Texas School of Nursing in Lubbock, Texas and a proud member of the Cadet Nurse Corp during WWII. After moving to Waldron where she and husband Jeff, operated a dairy farm, she worked for many years as a Registered Nurse for Dr. Wright. After retirement from nursing, she stayed busy canning, making hundreds of jars of jelly, pickles and relish and quilting over 100 quilts for family and friends. She was especially famous for her peanut butter cookies which she shared with many. Her canning, quilting and baking won many blue ribbons at the Scott County Fair for which she was very proud.
Marie leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Kay Moore of Charleston, Arkansas and Carolyn Pugh of Waldron, Arkansas, one son, Doyle Fielding and wife Rhodora of Boles, Arkansas. Mamaw will forever be missed by her nine grandchildren whom she loved unconditionally and deeply: Melissa Consedine of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Tricia Moore of Barling, Arkansas, Kerry Ward of Charleston, Arkansas and Becky Harris of Charleston, Arkansas, Dana Stockton of Waldron, Arkansas, DeMaris Barnett of Greenwood, Arkansas, DuLane Gash of Cabot, Arkansas, Chad Fielding of Arkadelphia, Arkansas and Daniel Fielding of Boles, Arkansas as well as seventeen great grandchildren: Garrett and Bryce Consedine, Brett, Jenna and Hannah Ward, Carlee and Eli Harris, Clayton and Eric Stockton, Nicholas and Daly Barnett, Ethan, Logan and Avery Fielding, Whitley and Kylon Fielding and Jakob Johnston. Marie is survived by one sister, Irene Radar of Roswell, New Mexico. Marie will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her including many friends, neighbors and loved ones.
Marie is preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 55 years, Jeff, her parents, William and Effie Koke, her brothers: Henry, Jimmy, Billy and Walter and her sisters, Beatrice and Dorothy and sons in law, Larry Pugh and Leonard Moore.
Marie's life celebration will be at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 30, 2014 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Pat Ray Biggs and Rev. John Elmore officiating. Interment will follow in the Pearson Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
Marie's pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons.
Marie's visitation will be Friday, August 29, 2014 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
