Dr. Emmet Barnett, DVM

Dr. Emmet Barnett DVM, of Waldron, AR went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, December 20, 2013, in Fort Smith, AR. Emmett was born May 29, 1956 in Danville, Arkansas to Arthur and Sue Barnett. Emmett was 57 years, 6 months and 21 days old.

Emmet was a member of the Waldron Church of Christ. He was a veterinarian, avid fisherman and a long distance runner. He graduated from Waldron High School in 1974, attend Arkansas Tech University for three years where he holds the records for 1500 meters, one mile run, two mile run and distance medley. He graduated from LSU in 1981 with a DVM degree and owned Waldron Veterinary Clinic for thirty two years.

Emmet is survived by his mother Sue Barnett of Waldron, AR. Brother Kerry and wife Cathy Barnett of Waldron, AR. Niece April and husband Jonathan Shockey of Fort Smith, AR and nephew Derek and wife Krystal Barnett of Waldron, AR. Chelsea Kellogg of Muskogee, OK. Uncle Dale Jr. and wife Juanita Barnett, aunts: Clara House, Barbara Barnett and Mona Murphy all of Waldron, AR. Along with a host of friends. Emmet was proceeded in death by his father Arthur Barnett.

Emmet's Life Celebration service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Waldron Middle School multipurpose building with Rev. Rickey Hunt and Leonard Fuson, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

Emmet's visitation will be held Sunday, December 22, 2013 from 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where the family will receive family and friends from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m..

Emmet's pallbearers will be Randy Barnett, Dale "Bubba" Sparks, Mac Davis, Randall Barnett, Rudy Barnett, Richard Barnett, Dr. Charles Miesner DVM, and Rory Wadkins.

Emmet's honorary pallbearers will be Danny Barnett, James House, Nathan Franklin, Steve House, Mike House, Keith Piles, Brad Stamps, "The Gang" at Waldron Livestock Auction, Dr. Gena Meierding DVM, Phyllis Suttles, Keith Wilsey, and "The Sunday Running Crew".
