Denver Ed Plummer of Waldron Arkansas passed from this life Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in a Waldron Nursing Home. Denver was born on December 12, 1919 in Hontubby, Oklahoma to the late Ona Clyde Plummer and Ida Eugene Thomas Plummer. He was 91 years, 9 months and 22 days old. Denver leaves to cherish his memories his beloved wife of 72 years, Pansy Plummer. Denver and Pansy began their life long adventure together on August 17, 1939. They were joined as husband and wife by the Rev. Merl Walker. In 1941 Denver was once again in the hands of Rev. Merl Walker while being baptised at Winfield Baptist Church. In the fall of 1941 Denver joined the Army and became a PFC in the WWII era. After his tenure in the military, Denver was a truck driver for a short while. He then conquered what became his hobby, his passion and his means of supporting his family. Denver became owner of the Exxon Service Station and later added the "Bulldog Carwash". Denver provided to the citizens of Waldron and Scott County a full service filling station. In his day, he would wash your windows, check the air in your tires, check your oil, all while he filled your tank with gas. He loved to visit with the people and enjoyed the comradary downtown for over 40 years. In his retirement, his enjoyment came from the love of mowing. He waited for the days when he could get on the mower and go as long as he could. Denver is survived by his wife, Pansy Plummer. He is also survived by one son, Denver Paul Plummer and wife Reita of Waldron, Arkansas. Denver leaves a legacy to carry forward with his 6 grandchildren, Kyle Gilliam & wife Jackie of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Blain Gilliam & wife Laura of Ft. Smith, Arkansas, Mark Plummer & wife Angie of Sheridan, Arkansas, Jon Plummer of Lexora Kansas, Paula Snodgrass of Sheridan, Arkansas and Craig Holmes & wife Terrie of Pearcy Arkansas. He will be greatly missed by 11 great grandchildren and 7 great great grandchildren, one brother Jerral Plummer & wife Jean, their daugther Brandi all of Waldron, Arkansas. He has also touched the lives of many nieces, nephews and all who knew him. Denver is preceded in death, in addition to his parents, by one daughter, Brenda Joyce Gilliam, one son, Eddie Maurice Plummer, and one son in law, Gary Gilliam. He also was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother. Denver's funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, October 7, 2011 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Sehorn Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Denver's pallbearers will be Kyle Gilliam, Grayson Gilliam, Blain Gilliam, Kirby Gilliam, Craig Holmes and Grant Schween. His honorary pallbearers will be Jon Plummer, Mark Plummer, Seth Lunsford, Emmet Joe Millard, Jeremy Hawkins, William Hutchins, Glen Dale Sparks, Sam Giddens, Jim Currier, Odell Staggs, Eddie Harrison, Johnnie Ward, Tully Works, John Evans, Ralph Butler, Bill Taylor, Ray Rice, Ronnie Plummer, Lynn Newborn, and Richard Maxwell Denver's visitation will be Thursday, October 6, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
