Delores Mae (Carruth) Lee of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with her Lord Sunday, January 27, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Delores was born February 4, 1918 to Watt Carruth and Alice (Tooman) Carruth in Carnegie, Oklahoma. Delores was 94 years, 11 months and 23 days old. Delores was a member of the Waldron First Baptist Church for over 74 years. It was only in the last 16 months that Delores was unable to attend services. On May 12, 1938, Delores married her husband Paul Gaynor Lee Sr. They were married for 57 years before his death on April 21, 1996. Nanny Dee was known for her quick laughter while working at the Piggly Wiggly Store in Waldron. She was also notorious for her many Caladium plants, her hot rolls, her down home cooking and her wise counsel. Delores leaves behind to cherish her memory, one daughter Janis Kay Mays and husband Benny of Rogers, Arkansas, two sons: Lawrence Don Lee and wife Jeanie of Fort Smith, Arkansas and Paul Gaynor Lee Jr. and wife Cheryl of Waldron, Arkansas. Nanny Dee will be forever missed by her six grandchildren: John Lee and wife, Laura of Williamsburg, VA, Stephen Lee and wife Jeanna of Sierra Vista, AZ, Amy Mobley and husband Nathan of Greenwood, AR, Alison West of Rogers, AR and Laurie Neely and husband Brad of Los Angeles, CA, and Abby Lou Edwards of Waldron, AR. Nanny Dee is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Jane Warner-Lee, Parker Lee, Alex Lee, Jarrett Harris, Chase Harris, Megan West and Hannah Neely. Delores is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Lee Sr., parents, Watt and Alice (Tooman) Carruth, three sisters: Waldean Stephens, Dorothy Hurdt and June Beasley; three brothers: Glen Carruth, Warren Carruth and Leon Carruth and one grandson, Payton Paul Lee. Delores? life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 30, 2013 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Dr. Ken Overturf officiating. Interment will follow in the Birdsview Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Delores? pallbearers will be Jerrel Plummer, Buzz Morris, Mark Ward, Eddie Harrison, Wayne Bass and Jerry Skeen. . Delores? visitation will be Tuesday, January 30, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas where the family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.
