Rev. Vandon Ellis (Danny) Staggs of Waldron, Arkansas went to be with his Lord and Savior surrounded by his family Sunday morning, January 6, 2013 at his home. Danny was born May 14, 1938 in Beaucamp, Arkansas to John Wilson and Addie Mae (Aynes) Staggs. Danny was 74 years, 7 months, and 20 days old. Danny was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Waldron, Arkansas. As a young man, Danny served in the United States Navy for a tenure of four years. It was 1964 in Kansas City, Missouri that Danny met a young lady by the name of Sandy. He went on to marry this love of his life January 1, 1965. In 1977 Danny was called into the ministry and was ordained as a minister. Over the years he was able to share God?s word and minister to people while preaching at numerous church?s all across the area. He loved the Lord and enjoyed sharing the gospel with everyone. Danny also had an outdoor?s side to him. During the summer months he could be found on a creek bank fishing or he would be somewhere, anywhere there was a softball field. Danny loved to play softball as well as coach. He then watched and supported his children and grandchildren when they were on the field. The winter months held a breathe of crisp fresh air for Danny as he would spend time ?setting up deer camp?. He loved deer hunting. To be sitting around the camp fire with family and friends, after a long day in the woods, just made a good day even better. Although Danny had hobbies he enjoyed, his love for his family and the time he spent with them was, without a doubt, what he treasured most. Danny leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 48years, Sandy of the home; three sons, Michael Staggs, and wife, Raegan of Choctaw, Oklahoma, Danny Staggs and wife, Shelley of Mena, Arkansas, Terry Staggs and wife, Becky of Waldron, Arkansas. Papaw will forever be missed by eight grandchildren:Steven, Dereck, Justin, Taylor, Shawn, Josh, Tyler and Tori. Danny is also survived by one sister, Phillis Nelson of Waldron, Arkansas and two brothers, Odell Staggs and Harrell Staggs both of Waldron, Arkansas. Danny will be missed by all that knew him and the many who?s lives were impacted by him including numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, friends and loved ones. Danny is preceded in death by his parents, John and Addie (Aynes) Staggs, three sisters: Charlene Janway, Doris Keeling, and Dora Mooney as well as three brothers: Arnold Staggs, Dee Staggs and Athel Staggs.
