Charley "Duke" Clemons

November 25, 1934 — April 23, 2012

Charley D.(Duke) Clemons of Waldron, Arkansas, formerly of Wilmington Beach, California, went to be with his Lord and Savior Monday, April 23, 2012 surrounded by his loving family. Charley was born November 25, 1934 to Baxter Homer Clemons and Iva Viola (Scallion) Clemons in England, Arkansas. Charley was 77 years, 4 months and 29 days old. He last attended Waldron Pentecostal Church of God in Waldron, Arkansas.

In 1951 Charley joined the Navy where he served a four year tenure on the USS Boxer CVA #21. Charley served as a Gunner on this aircraft carrier during the Korean War. In October of 1956 he married the love of his life Eva Lea Keith in Las Vegas, Nevada. After returning to Arkansas, Charley worked for 30 plus years in the construction/home improvement business as a Sales Manager for Pack?s Salvage in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Charley was a family man, his love for his wife and family was immeasurable. Charley was well known for his passion for his cattle and his farm.

Charley leaves behind to cherish his memory, his loving wife of 55 years, Eva of the home, two daughters, Lisa Ann Hickey of Waldron, Arkansas, Tammy Lea Tedder and husband Tracy of Berryville, Arkansas and one son, Charles Scott Clemons of Waldron, Arkansas. Papa will be missed so very much by his granddaughters, Hannah Leigh Doty, Sarah DeWitt, Tabitha Tedder, Jaiden Tedder, Haleigh Ann Hickey and grandson Daniel Steele Clemons. Charley is also survived by three sisters Dorothy Iturra, Ann Lindauer, and Martha Jean Metzger and one brother H.A. Riley.

Charley is preceded in death by his parents, Homer Clemons and Iva Mryglod and one sister Charlene Revils.

Charley?s life celebration of life service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Waldron Pentecostal Church of God in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Birdsview Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

Charley?s pallbearers will be Tracy Tedder, Steele Clemons, H.A. Riley, Shay Riley, Jon Doty, and Geral DeWitt. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Freeman, Don Pack, Robert Pack, Terry Bottoms, Larry Jackson, Larry Metzger, Don Metzger, Glen Metzger, Steven Iturra, Michael Freeman, Dan Reid, Curtis Hudson, Tommy Watson, Raymond Self, Roger Horn, Glen Cook and Mark Watkins.

Charley?s visitation will be 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, 2012 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Charley?s family request in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be made to the VFW #1345, P.O. Box 128, Waldron, AR 72958.
