Betty Faye (Rath) Himes

Betty Faye (Rath) Himes of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Sunday, December 24, 2017 in her home surrounded by her loving family. Betty was born August 22, 1936 in Hollis, Oklahoma to Lawrence and Bessie (Warner) Rath. Betty was 81 years, 4 months and 2 days old.

Betty married the love of her life J. E. Himes, October 23, 1954 in Hollis, Oklahoma. Betty attended the Freedom Freewill Baptist Church where she taught Sunday Youth Service. She was a foster parent to over 50 children. She was a food service worker at the Waldron Public Schools for over 20 years until she retired in 1995. She loved writing poetry for her family and painting with numerous local artists..

Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory four sons, Billy Himes and wife Marie of Waldron, Arkansas, Ricky Himes and wife Marilyn of Parks, Arkansas, Jimmy Himes and wife Sara of Clarksville, Arkansas, Russell Himes of West Fork, Arkansas; one daughter Jenny Stone of Van Buren, Arkansas. Betty is also survived by two brothers,, Bill Rath of Greenville, Texas, David Rath of Altus, Oklahoma; four sister-in-laws, Louise Brown of Ione, Arkansas, Glenda Fair of Waldron, Arkansas, Irma Hopper of Waldron, Arkansas, and Mary Ann Himes of Waldron, Arkansas. Granny will be forever missed by her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Betty will be missed by and all that knew her and the many lives she touched including a host of nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her loving husband, J. E. Himes; her parents; two brothers, Larry Rath, John H. Rath; two sisters, Martha Elizabeth Rath and Janet Rath

Betty's life celebration will be at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 28, 2017 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Mike Galinato officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.

Betty's pallbearers will be Tyler Himes, Colton Wright, Chris Himes, Ridge Robinson, Brad Evans and Robert Himes. Honorary pallbearer will be William L. Hill.

Betty's visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas.
