Betty Jo Ballard, better known to everyone as ?Granny?, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Sunday, February 24, 2013 in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Granny was born December 9, 1927 in Green Ridge, Arkansas to A.O. Judy and Fern (Rice) Judy. Granny was 85 years, 2 months and 15 days old. Granny was a member of Waldron Pentecostal Church of God. In 1948 Betty Jo married the love of her life Wesley L. Ballard. They shared 46 years together until he passed in 1996 . Everyone that knew Betty Jo knew her as Granny. Granny was the matriarch of her family. She loved her children and grandchildren. They were her life. Granny enjoyed working in her yard and in her flower beds. She also enjoyed her garden. Granny especially loved to listen to The Freemans sing. Granny?s granddaughter and special companion (Jordan) stayed with her and helped care for her for the last six years. Granny leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters: Lynn Meeks and husband Steven of Garland, Texas, Patsy Parks and husband Leonard of Waldron, Arkansas, two sons, Bob Ballard and wife Freda of Waldron, Arkansas and Tommy Joe Ballard and wife Peggy of Waldron, Arkansas. Granny will forever be missed by her 11 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter. Granny is also survived by one brother Carroll Satterfield and wife Donna of Van Buren, Arkansas. Granny will be missed by all that knew her and the many whose lives were impacted by her including a host of nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Granny is preceded in death by her husband, Wesley L. Ballard, her parents, A. O. Judy and Fern (Rice) Taylor, one great grandson, Wesley J. Singleton, and one brother, J.L. (Bud) Judy. Granny?s life celebration will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Rickey Hunt officiating. Interment will follow in the Pilot Prairie Cemetery near Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Granny?s pallbearers will be Gary Lynn House, Pat Ray Biggs, Adolfo Silva, Leroy Bass, Cody Qualls and Jimmy Oswald. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Ford, Dwayne Hutchens, David (Woody) Woodard, Kenny Singleton and Scott Dunson. Granny?s visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home where Granny?s family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
