Barbara Braun

Barbara Ann (McFarland) Braun went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday evening, December 23, 2011 in a Fort Smith, Arkansas hospital. Barbara was born November 21, 1945 in Jennings, Louisiana to the late Francis McFarland and Geraldine (Rutchlege) McFarland.

Barbara was a faithful member of the Saint Jude Catholic Church in Waldron, Arkansas. She was also a member of the Catholic Daughters. Barbara was a people person she never met a stranger, she loved people and loved doing things for people. She loved life and loved to cook. As for cooking, she loved to cook Cajun food like shrimp gumbo. In her life Barbara did many thing like truck driving and was a motel desk clerk. Above all she loved her husband, children and many, many friends.

Barbara leaves behind to cherish her memory, her husband, Dan Braun of the home; three sons, Steven of Austin, Texas, Alan James of Lafayette, Louisiana, and Richard of Lafayette, Louisiana.

She leaves two sisters, Francis Sue Lyons of Crawley, Louisiana, Ruth Gail McFarland of Rayne, Louisiana; a niece Cheryl Ann Daigle of Rayne, Louisiana; along with numerous other nieces and nephews.

Barbara is preceded in death in addition to her parents by one sister, Shirley Ray McFarland.

Barbara?s Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, December 30, 2011 at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Rayne, with Father Clint Trahan, officiating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in Iota, Louisiana. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.

Barbara?s visitation will be held at the Gossen Funeral Home,
504 N. Polk Street, Rayne, LA, Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Gossen Funeral Home Chapel.

Barbara?s pallbearers will be Jeff Shepler, Darrell Long, Pete Raymond, Gordon Saunder, Willie Bronet and David LeBlanc.
