Anna Jean Gibson of Waldron, Arkansas passed from this life, Sunday, June 24, 2012 in Fort Smith, Arkansas surrounded by her loving family. Anna was born September 22, 1925 to Dolph Edgar Whitmire and Beulah Mae (Watson) Whitmire in Waldron, Arkansas. Anna was 86 years, 9 months and 2 days old. She was of the Baptist faith. As a young woman, Anna would work on the family farm helping to work the cows, garden and whatever else was needed. She never complained because she knew it was the way it had to be. As she grew older Anna had many outside jobs to include AVI, Waldron Furniture Factory and after retirement she could be seen helping out at the flower shop. Anna?s favorite past time was fishing and piecing together quilts. Her passion was taking care of her grandchildren and family. She really enjoyed doing things for her neighbors and all those she knew. Anna leaves behind to cherish her memory, two daughters, Linda Long and husband M.G. of Waldron, Arkansas and Debra McCurry and husband Harley of Nella, Arkansas. Granny will be forever missed by seven grandchildren: David, James, Harley, Brad, Josh, Lance and Michelle. Granny has touched the lives of ten great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. Anna is also survived by many nieces, nephews, friends and loved ones. Anna is preceded in death by her parents, Dolph and Beulah Whitmire, one son, Edward Lee Gibson, two sisters, Retha Tull and Avanell Nevills, and three brothers, Haston Whitmire, Milburn Whitmire, and Ofal Whitmire. Anna?s life celebrations will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Clyde Traylor and Rev. Collins Lane officiating. Interment will follow in the Square Rock Cemetery in Waldron, Arkansas. Arrangements are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas. Anna?s pallbearers will be Bobby Don Helms, Stan Cottrell, David Long, James Long, Brad McCurry, and Joshua McCurry. Honorary pallbearers will be Billie Cox, Wilma Edgar, Harley McCurry III, Charles Maxwell, and Clarence Gibson. Anna?s visitation will be Tuesday, June 26, 2012 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home in Waldron, Arkansas. Anna?s family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
