Michael Wayne Pickens Sr

Michael Wayne Pickens Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Wednesday, August 5, 2015 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Michael was born August 4, 1957 in Colorado to Leroy J. Pickens and Corlie (Worsham) Pickens. Michael was 58 years and 1 day old. Michael was longtime member of New Life Center in Waldron, Arkansas and he shared God's blessings every chance he had.
Michael was always a joy to be around. He had a smile to light up the room. He was a huge supporter of his hometown athletes and at ballgames his absence was certainly noticed if he didn't make it. Michael could be hollaring for the kids know matter the outcome. He really enjoyed watching his grandchildren play all the sports they were involved in and he especially enjoyed watching the Razorbacks. Everyone knew Michael and he was notorious for going anywhere he wanted in his wheelchair. Nothing slowed him down. He could conquer any task or go anywhere his heart desired. His drive and determination couldn't be beat.
Michael leaves behind to cherish his memory, one daughter, Kimberly Metcalf of Plainview, Arkansas, two sons: Michael W. Pickens II. and Wesley Pickens and wife Threasa all of Waldron, Arkansas. Poppa will forever remain in the hearts of his six grandchildren: Santana Metcalf, Derick Metcalf, Erick Metcalf, Jesica Metcalf, Dillion Pickens and Kayle Pickens as well as six great grandchildren. Michael is also survived by a special friend Mary Petee. Michael will be missed by all that knew him and the man whose lives were impacted by him, including a host of friends and loved ones.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Leroy Pickens and Corlie Bernard, one daughter, Tonya Brown, one grandson, Trevor Brown and one granddaughter, Katrina Metcalf and two sisters: Linda Baskins and Cathy Neal and the mother of Michael's children, Marylin Pickens.
Michael's memorial life celebration will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 8, 2015 at the New Life Center in Waldron, Arkansas with Rev. Jerry Isham, Rev. Rickey Hunt & Joey Marrone officiating. Arrangements and cremation are being entrusted to the Heritage Memorial Funeral Home & Crematory in Waldron, Arkansas.
